RunBoyRun ("we", "our", or "the app") is built for runners. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it stays yours.
1. What We Collect
We collect only what's needed to make the app work:
- Apple Sign In — your Apple User ID (an opaque identifier) and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. We never see your Apple ID password.
- Run data — distance, duration, pace, and GPS route coordinates recorded during a run. Free users: stored on-device only. Paid (PacePlus) users: synced to our servers so your history is available across devices.
- HealthKit — with your permission, we read step counts and workout data to supplement your run stats. We never write to HealthKit without your explicit action.
- Location — GPS is used only during an active run to trace your route. We do not track location in the background or when the app is closed.
- Challenge and squad activity — which challenges you've accepted, your progress, and squad membership. This is stored on our servers to power leaderboards and social features.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To display your run history and stats in the app.
- To verify challenge completion conditions (distance, time, weather, moon phase).
- To power squad leaderboards and group challenges.
- To send local push notifications for scheduled challenges (processed entirely on-device).
- We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it to any third party.
3. Third-Party Services
We use Supabase (supabase.com) as our backend database and file storage provider. Data synced to our servers is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the EU region. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics services, or third-party trackers.
4. Free vs. PacePlus Users
Free users' run data is stored entirely on-device and never leaves your phone. If you delete the app, that data is gone.
PacePlus subscribers' runs are synced to our servers so they persist if you reinstall or switch devices. You can request deletion of your server-side data at any time (see Section 6).
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Challenge and squad data may be retained in aggregate (anonymised) for leaderboard integrity after account deletion.
6. Your Rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing runboyrunapp@proton.me. We will respond within 30 days.
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app via Settings → Delete Account, or by contacting us.
7. Children
RunBoyRun is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you via the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
